We are seeking an experienced UK Payroll Processing SME to manage and support end-to-end payroll operations across the UK. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in UK payroll legislation, HMRC compliance, PAYE, pensions, statutory payments, and payroll systems. The role involves handling complex payroll scenarios, driving process improvements, supporting audits, and acting as the go‐to expert for payroll operations and compliance. The candidate should demonstrate excellent analytical, stakeholder management, and problem‐solving skills while ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end‐to‐end UK payroll processing for weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll cycles.
- Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely salary payments in accordance with UK legislation and HMRC regulations.
- Process payroll activities, including starters and leavers, tax codes, overtime and bonuses, salary adjustments, expenses and deductions, pension contributions, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP).
- Handle RTI submissions, including FPS and EPS submissions to HMRC.
- Manage year‐end payroll activities, including P60s, P11Ds, and reconciliation activities.
- Ensure compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, Auto‐Enrolment, and pension regulations.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, escalations, and employee queries.
- Perform payroll reconciliations and audit checks.
- Support payroll audits, compliance reviews, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, Benefits, and third‐party payroll providers.
- Maintain and improve payroll processes, controls, and documentation.
- Support payroll system implementations, upgrades, testing, and configuration changes.
- Generate payroll reports, KPIs, and management dashboards.
- Provide SME guidance and mentoring to payroll team members.
- Stay updated with changes in UK payroll legislation and industry best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in end‐to‐end UK payroll processing.
- In‐depth knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, HMRC regulations, RTI submissions, Auto‐Enrolment, statutory payments, and pension administration.
- Experience managing high‐volume payroll operations.
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and audit controls.
