Are you passionate about people, community connections and making a real difference in the lives of unpaid Carers? We’re looking for an enthusiastic, relationship-focused Participation & Engagement Officer to help us reach hidden Carers and ensure they receive the support they deserve. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across vibrant communities, build meaningful partnerships, and play a key role in helping Carers feel seen, supported and valued.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs our Participation & Engagement Officer, you will:
- Build strong relationships with community groups, voluntary organisations and statutory/private sector partners to raise awareness of caring and identify hidden Carers.
- Make our service visible within local communities by tailoring engagement approaches to different settings.
- Ensure all engagement activity is inclusive and accessible, especially for underrepresented groups such as BAME communities and Mental Health Carers.
- Represent the service at meetings, events and community gatherings.
- Deliver engaging Carer Awareness Briefings both in-person and online.
- Help develop effective referral pathways so Carers can easily access groups, activities, learning opportunities and therapeutic support.
- Build a network of partners and community-based opportunities for Carers.
- Support Carers who want to set up or grow their own support groups.
- Contribute to a living directory of local signposting and wraparound support.
- Make good use of Carer databases to record participation and monitor activity.
- Work towards individual performance targets set by your Team Leader.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and adults.
- Provide occasional cover across the wider Carers Service.
- Support social work student and volunteer induction and development.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
