We're looking for a Transport Planner to join our Supply Chain team. This role is central to ensuring our vehicles, drivers, and records remain fully compliant with Operator Licence undertakings, DVSA expectations, and UK transport legislation. We are looking for a Transport Planner to support the day-to-day control of a transport operation. For this role, we are open to supporting the right candidate to complete an apprenticeship in one of the following: Traffic Office Level 2, Transport Supervisor Level 3, HGV Driver (Cat C + E). Please note: This role is based out of our Warehouse in Shaw, Oldham and will be Monday to Friday general office hours.
What will you do as a Transport Planner at N Brown?
- Plan and coordinate daily transport activity, including vehicle allocation and driver scheduling, ensuring full compliance with drivers' hours and WTD rules.
- Monitor and update plans in response to delays, breakdowns, or resource changes, escalating any compliance risks.
- Schedule and monitor vehicle and trailer inspections, MOTs, servicing, and maintenance, ensuring no non-compliant assets are operated.
- Manage daily driver defect reporting, ensuring defects are logged, prioritised, rectified, and fully closed before vehicles return to service.
- Monitor tachograph data and drivers' hours, identify infringements, investigate root causes, and support corrective actions.
- Maintain transport and compliance records to DVSA and Operator Licence standards, supporting audits and inspections.
- Produce regular compliance and operational reports and keep all transport systems up to date.
What skills and experience will you have?
- Previous experience in transport planning, fleet administration, or transport compliance (desirable).
- Working knowledge of Operator Licence requirements, vehicle compliance, drivers' hours, and tachograph rules.
- Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Confident using transport management systems, compliance software, and Microsoft Office (Excel essential).
- Ability to identify compliance risks and elevate appropriately.
- Clear and confident communicator when dealing with drivers, suppliers, and management.
- A driver's licence and the ability to drive confidently (Essential).
- HGV licence (desirable but not essential).
- Cat B licence minimum with opportunity to gain Cat C + E.

Our working hours are 38.5 hours per week Monday to Friday general office hours. This role is based out of our Warehouse in Shaw, Oldham. The site can be easily accessed via tram which is just a few minutes walk away and we also offer free car parking for anyone who wishes to drive to the site.
