The Role: Imports Classification & Payment Clerk
Location: Shaw, Oldham
We are looking for an Imports Classification and Payment Clerk to join our Supply Chain team!
As the Classification and Payment Clerk for N Brown, you'll work to effectively manage the classification of the organisation's goods we offer for resale in line with trade tariff rules. You will also be managing the information flows and compliance of import documentation and as well as raising the necessary requisitions for our freight partners and in-country agents.
Through agreed objectives and SLAs and you'll drive change through a continuous improvement culture. We're looking for someone who'll be a role model for our core behaviours and be a true advocate for our culture!
What will you do as an Imports Classification and Payment Clerk at N Brown?
- Classify all imported products with HS codes for the purpose of compliance aligned to UK tariff and trade rules, providing landed costs. Also ensuring that the appropriate duty rate is applied.
- Supplier accounts - reconcile invoices against purchase orders and where appropriate raise debit notes
- Application of country specific trade terms when reconciling invoices
- Raise Oracle requisitions for; the payment of freight forwarders, agents' commissions and administrative subscriptions
- Undertake sample audits of documentation / SOPs to reduce the risk of HMRC non-compliance
- Support the Compliance and Administration Manager with customs clearances and duty management systems
- Support the Import Compliance and Administration Manager activities in periods of absence and holiday, including when necessary, providing monthly management reporting.
What skills and experience will you have?
- Knowledge of tariff setting systems
- Experience of working within an import/export environment, customs procedures and freight forwarding.
- Good communication skills proven by interaction with cross-functional peers and external customers.
- Knowledge of Oracle systems
- You'll be able to provide examples of being able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
