We are looking for a Data Architect to join our architecture chapter here at N Brown Group!
What will you do as a Data Architect at N Brown?
- Designing solutions to meet customer needs, taking advantage of key frameworks that are part of our wider strategy.
- Work collaboratively with teams to create, maintain, support, and evolve a clean ecosystem (enterprise-wide and EDW-specific data architecture, modelling, development, and governance).
- Champion the usage of relevant modern cloud and/or open-source tools and technology.
- Enable the strategic roadmaps, develop and communicate the sequence of architectural implementation.
- Establish a strong support framework for group-wide practitioners, evangelising existing and potential platform capabilities.
- Leverage overarching knowledge of available and potentially available data to co-ordinate and enable cross-team projects and strategic programmes.
What skills and experience will you have?
- Significant practical and demonstrable data architecture experience, preferably in designing and implementing cloud-native analytics/data platforms (including data lake/warehouse) technology through all data lifecycle stages.
- Excellent conceptual and logical data modelling and database design experience, including industry-recognised data modelling patterns and standards (i.e. dimensional), that is relevant to a retail and/or financial services business.
- Passionate about high quality, usable data and governance structures.
- Understand how to deploy data in support of complex machine learning projects.
- Demonstrate an innovative, dynamic and creative approach to problem-solving.
- Identify opportunities and lead others sensitively through organisational and technology change.
- Have a growth mindset, taking advantage of learning opportunities to help N Brown become an industry leader.
What knowledge of Technology will you have?
- Experience with Google Cloud products (BigQuery, GCS, Cloud Composer, Dataflow etc.) or similar products from other cloud platforms.
- Experience with open-source data-stack tools such as Airflow, Airbyte, DBT, Kafka etc.
- Experience with data visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Tableau and/or Looker.
- Knowledge of Teradata, Mainframe and/or Google Analytics is preferable.
- Appreciation of data management, analytics, science, and visualisation workflows and data needs.
- Appreciation of the modern cloud data stack, headless BI, analytics engineering, data meshes and lake-houses.
- Knowledge of Data Governance.

Ways of Working
We offer hybrid working which varies across the business depending on the role you’re in. Our Head Office is located in the Northern Quarter in Manchester City Centre. So, if you are travelling by train, tram or bus we are perfectly located, plus we are surrounded by cool cafes, trendy bars and the best places to eat! Our working hours are 36.17 per week and our core working hours are between 10am - 4pm. Given we don’t have strict working hours you can find the working pattern that’s right for you.
