As a Cove Data Protection Solutions Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor helping MSPs and customers maximize the value of N‑able Cove Data Protection.

You will partner with customers, Customer Success, Product Management, Engineering, and Sales to improve backup reliability, accelerate recovery outcomes, optimize data protection strategies, and drive long-term customer success.

The role can be hybrid with 3 days a week in the Edinburgh office. We also welcome UK remote applications.

  • What You’ll Do
  • Act as the primary technical advisor for customers using N‑able Cove Data Protection.
  • Drive adoption and optimization of Cove backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and data protection capabilities.
  • Conduct backup architecture and data protection reviews, providing best-practice recommendations.
  • Guide customers on backup policy design, retention strategies, recovery testing, and operational maturity.
  • Support deployments across servers, workstations, Microsoft 365, and cloud-first backup environments.
  • Partner with Support and Engineering to troubleshoot backup failures, restore issues, and performance concerns.
  • Deliver technical workshops, enablement sessions, and data protection reviews.
  • Support renewals, expansions, and retention initiatives alongside Customer Success and Account Management.
  • Provide customer feedback to Product and Engineering to influence future Cove platform enhancements.
  • Serve as a data protection subject matter expert during escalations and strategic customer engagements.
  • What You’ll Bring
  • 3+ years in Solutions Engineering, Backup Engineering, Technical Consulting, Professional Services, or a related data protection role.
  • Experience with backup and recovery platforms, disaster recovery, cloud backup, or BCDR solutions.
  • Strong understanding of backup methodologies, recovery objectives, retention policies, and data protection best practices.
  • Knowledge of servers, virtualization, Microsoft 365, cloud storage, networking, and endpoint environments.
  • Ability to assess backup health, identify coverage gaps, and recommend practical remediation steps.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and customer-facing skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Support, and Customer Success teams.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting MSPs, IT service providers, or channel partners.
  • Experience with N‑able Cove, Veeam, Acronis, Datto, Replibit, Storage Craft, or similar backup and recovery platforms.
  • Industry certifications such as Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, VMware, Comp TIA Server+, Network+, or Security+.
