We are looking for a Software Engineer with a DevOps mindset to join our AI Platform team. You'll be the friendly face building bridges between our AI platform and the diverse ecosystem of tools our peers use daily. This role combines software development with DevOps practices, focusing on creating robust, scalable integrations and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers that extend our AI Platform Capabilities. The role is hybrid requiring 2-3 days a week in our Dundee hub. Our Edinburgh hub is also a possible location.
What You'll Do
- Integration Development
- Design and build MCP servers and connectors that integrate with external tools and services.
- Develop robust API integrations with third-party services, handling authentication, rate limiting, and error recovery.
- Create reusable integration patterns and libraries for rapid connector development.
- DevOps
- Implement and maintain Terraform modules for deploying integration services on AWS.
- Leverage AWS Bedrock and related services for AI capabilities within integrations.
- Build infrastructure that supports high-availability, scalable connector deployments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Groovy for integration deployments.
- Create self-service deployment tools and documentation for development teams.
- Relationship Building & Collaboration
- Work closely with product teams to understand integration requirements and user needs.
- Serve as the technical liaison for integration partnerships and API relationships.
- Mentor other engineers on integration best practices and MCP server development.
- Platform Evolution
- Contribute to the design and architecture of our integration platform.
- Research and evaluate new integration opportunities and technologies.
- Build tools and frameworks that make integration development faster and more reliable.
- Drive technical standards for connector development and deployment.
What You'll Bring
- Strong proficiency in Python, with experience building scalable services, APIs, and integrations.
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, authentication patterns, and resilient integration design.
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/Groovy preferred) and automating deployments.
- Proven DevOps mindset, including infrastructure as code, automated testing, and service monitoring.
- Hands-on experience integrating with third-party APIs and event-driven architectures (e.g. webhooks).
- Strong knowledge of authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, API keys) and security best practices.
- Practical experience with AWS services (e.g. Lambda, API Gateway, Bedrock) and serverless architectures.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM, and monitoring/logging tools (e.g. CloudWatch).
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
