We are seeking a highly experienced, highly organised and inspiring IB PYP Coordinator to lead the delivery, development and quality assurance of the Primary Years Programme within a growing international school in Baghdad, while also teaching PYP classes and supporting high-quality classroom practice across the primary section.
The successful candidate will work closely with the School Leadership Team and teaching staff to ensure that teaching, learning, assessment and curriculum planning are fully aligned with IB PYP expectations and best practice.
Essential Qualifications and Experience- Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education, Education, Early Years Education, or a closely related field from a UK University.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an IB PYP Coordinator.
- At least 5 years’ experience teaching within the IB Primary Years Programme.
- Relevant IB PYP professional development, including PYP workshops or coordinator focused IB training.
- Strong and current knowledge of the IB PYP framework, inquiry based learning, concept driven curriculum, student agency, assessment and action.
- Proven ability to lead curriculum planning, coach and support teachers, deliver professional development and maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
- Strong leadership, communication, organisation and relationship building skills.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Experience supporting an IB authorisation, evaluation, self study or programme development process.
- Experience in a growing international school or multicultural environment.
- Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
- Additional IB professional development, including IB Leadership training or advanced PYP workshops.
- Lead the implementation, development and continuous improvement of the IB Primary Years Programme.
- Support teachers with collaborative planning, unit design, assessment, inquiry based learning and PYP best practice.
- Ensure that curriculum documentation, assessment processes and classroom practice remain aligned with IB standards and expectations.
- Coach teachers and deliver internal professional development where required.
- Work closely with senior leaders to strengthen the school’s PYP provision and prepare for IB reviews, authorisation or evaluation processes.
- Promote a strong PYP culture across the school community, including staff, students and parents.
- Teach within the PYP as part of the role, delivering high quality inquiry based lessons aligned with the IB framework.
- Salary of up to $4,800 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience.
