URGENT VACANCY | IB PYP TEACHER | BAGHDAD, IRAQ
Salary: Up to $3,000 per month
Start date: September 2026. Immediate availability preferred.
Contract: Up to three years
Curriculum: International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme
We are urgently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic IB PYP Teacher to join a growing international school in Baghdad.
You will deliver engaging, inquiry based lessons, encourage curiosity and help students become confident, independent learners, working closely with the PYP Coordinator and colleagues.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Primary Education, Education, Early Years Education or a closely related field, awarded by a UK university.
- At least three years of teaching experience within the IB PYP.
- Relevant IB PYP professional development, including PYP workshops.
- Strong knowledge of the PYP framework, inquiry based learning, conceptual understanding, student agency, assessment and action.
- Proven ability to plan effective lessons, assess progress and adapt teaching to different learning needs.
- Strong classroom management, communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging PYP lessons that develop curiosity, conceptual understanding and student agency.
- Collaborate with the PYP Coordinator and colleagues on units of inquiry, curriculum planning and assessment.
- Differentiate teaching to support students with a range of abilities and learning needs.
- Assess, record and report on progress, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom where students feel supported and challenged.
- Maintain planning and assessment records in line with school policies and IB expectations.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to the wider school community.
Desirable Experience
- Teaching in an international school or multicultural environment.
- Contributing to IB authorisation, evaluation or programme development.
- A master’s degree in Education or a related field, or advanced PYP professional development.
