Our client is a household name and an established leader within their niche, employing circa 180 people across the UK. As an innovative disruptor within financial services, our client has built a bespoke cutting-edge platform, which enables their underwriters to work efficiently and at a high volume.
Due to year-on-year growth, our client is actively seeking an experienced ambitious Underwriter / Case Manager to join their successful Secured Loans team.
The purpose of this position is to assess and underwrite secured loan applications, with a particular focus on repackaging cases that do not initially fit standard criteria to find suitable solutions for customers. You will be responsible for the full underwriting journey, ensuring a quick, simple and smooth experience for clients while maintaining robust risk assessment standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and underwrite secured loan applications against lending criteria
- Repackage and restructure cases that don\'t initially fit to create viable solutions for customers
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and make informed lending decisions
- Work collaboratively with case managers and brokers to optimize application outcomes
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
- Meet strict customer deadlines while maintaining quality standards
- Provide clear rationale for decisions and alternative solutions where appropriate
- Contribute to process improvements and policy development
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in secured loan underwriting within a brokerage - Essential
- Proven ability to creatively repackage cases and find solutions for complex applications
- Strong understanding of whole of market secured lending products
- Experience working to strict customer deadlines
- CeMAP or part CeMAP qualified (not essential but advantageous)
- Excellent analytical, communication and decision-making skills
- Strong attention to detail and risk assessment capabilities
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
