We have an exciting new role. At Cripps, we work with ambitious organisations and individuals to deliver clear, commercially focused legal advice. Our Employment team partners with businesses across a wide range of sectors, supporting them with everything from complex workplace disputes and strategic projects to day-to-day employment advisory work. We are looking for a Managing Associate to join our growing Employment practice. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer who enjoys combining high‑quality legal work with meaningful client relationships and business development.
The Role
As a Managing Associate, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional legal advice while helping to strengthen and grow client relationships. You will work closely with partners and colleagues across the firm, managing your own matters and supporting the development of junior team members. Your work will include advising clients on a broad range of employment law matters, contributing to client strategy, and supporting the team’s continued growth through client engagement and business development activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering high‑quality employment law advice to a diverse client base
- Building trusted relationships with clients, developing a strong understanding of their businesses and commercial priorities
- Managing matters independently while keeping clients informed on progress, outcomes and costs
- Supervising and supporting trainee solicitors and junior lawyers
- Contributing to client pitches, proposals and thought leadership
- Playing an active role in business development, including networking, events and articles
- Supporting the firm’s commitment to excellent client service, risk management and professional standards
- Managing matters efficiently, including time recording, billing and fee recovery
About You
We’re looking for a commercially minded employment lawyer who enjoys working collaboratively and building strong client relationships. You will likely have:
- Experience gained at a large regional or medium to large London law firm
- Strong experience advising on employment law matters for employers
- Confidence managing complex matters while maintaining a strategic view of client objectives
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers or trainees
- A strong track record of delivering work against commercial and financial targets
- Excellent drafting, communication and presentation skills
- A proactive approach to business development and client relationship management
You will also be:
- Organised, adaptable and comfortable working to deadlines
- A strong team player with an inclusive and collaborative approach
- Motivated to build your personal profile and contribute to the success of the wider team
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with a current practicing certificate
- Legal degree (2:1 or above) or non‑law degree followed by GDL/LPC
- Training contract completed at a large regional or medium to large firm
