We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join our Residential Conveyancing team in London. This is a senior fee‑earning role focused on delivering high‑quality, client‑focused residential property advice across a broad range of transactions, from straightforward sales and purchases through to complex, high‑value and technically challenging matters.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with a commercially minded, pragmatic approach, and will play a key role in managing client relationships, supporting junior team members, and contributing to the growth and reputation of the practice.

About the Team

The Residential Conveyancing team forms part of the wider Private Client and Residential Property division, advising a diverse client base including HNW and UWNW individuals, families, trustees, and property investors. The team handles a wide spectrum of residential property work, including:

  • Sales and purchases of freehold and leasehold property
  • Remortgages and refinancing
  • Lease extensions and enfranchisement
  • Complex title issues, covenants and property structuring matters
  • High‑value and time‑sensitive transactions requiring specialist input

Clients range from first‑time buyers to high‑net‑worthy individuals and long‑established property owners. The team is known for its practical, solution‑focused advice and ability to navigate complex transactions efficiently while maintaining exceptional client service.

Collaboration is central to the team’s approach, working closely with colleagues across Private Client, Tax, and Dispute Resolution, as well as external stakeholders such as estate agents, lenders, and surveyors to ensure a seamless end‑to‑end client experience.

Reporting Line

Reports to the Head of Team or Division, with day‑to‑day supervision delegated to partners or other senior fee earners (line manager).

Key Responsibilities

Client Delivery & Legal Work

  • Deliver technically accurate, commercially sound residential property advice
  • Manage a full caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction to completion
  • Take instructions directly from clients and maintain strong, trusted relationships
  • Manage client expectations proactively and communicate progress clearly and regularly
  • Meet clients where necessary and provide a responsive, high‑quality service
  • Prepare and issue invoices in line with agreed billing arrangements
  • Ensure all work complies with the Firm’s standards of client care, risk management, and file management

Supervision & Team Contribution

  • Keep line managers informed of new instructions, key developments, and matter milestones
  • Work within an appropriate structure of supervision, escalating issues where required
  • Supervise, support and develop junior fee earners, trainees, and support staff
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high‑performing and supportive team culture

Business Development & Client Growth

  • Identify and develop new work opportunities from existing and prospective clients
  • Build and maintain a strong professional network, including referrers such as agents and lenders
  • Attend networking events, seminars and industry functions
  • Contribute to thought leadership, including articles, presentations and social media engagement
  • Act as an ambassador for the Firm within the London and wider property market

Professional Standards & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with SRA requirements and the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Maintain accurate time recording, billing discipline, and effective fee recovery
  • Take responsibility for personal professional development and ongoing training
  • Demonstrate high levels of integrity, confidentiality and professional conduct

Person Specification

Experience

  • Experience gained within a large regional, national or London firm in residential conveyancing
  • Proven ability to manage a full residential property caseload independently
  • Strong track record of working to financial and billing targets
  • Confident working autonomously while engaging appropriately with senior supervision
  • Experience handling complex or high‑value residential property matters advantageous

Qualifications

  • Law degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent, from a well‑regarded university
  • LPC or equivalent qualification passed first time
  • Qualified solicitor with a current practising certificate
  • Strong and relevant training record from a recognised firm
