About Us
You rarely get the chance to change an entire industry. But that’s the position we find ourselves in. Join us, and you’ll unleash scientists, accelerate their research and help get cures to patients sooner.
We’ve developed machines to fully automate human cell production — the most manual process in biotech. Cells are used to discover and develop new drugs, and now they’re being used to treat cancer too. Mytos will impact cure development across the board.
We’re live in multibillion dollar biotechs on both coasts of the US, and just raised $19m to expand into the market faster, and accelerate our development! We’ve assembled a world‑class team to take on this challenge, with ex‑Dyson engineers and Nature‑published scientists working hand‑in‑hand.
The Role
This is an opportunity to redefine how the future of the biotech lab works. As the founding member of the Design team, you will be responsible for all aspects of Design at Mytos: from research, to concepting, to testing, to pixel‑perfect UI. You’ll also define the design systems used across the whole company.
Apart from occasional hardware interactions, the entire surface area of our product is in software — ranging from setting up experiments, managing cell batches in real‑time, and analysing data.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Working with the founders + product teams to lead our design process from start to finish: from research, to concepting, to testing, to pixel‑perfect UI
- Solving complex problems using customer‑centric, validated and delightful product design
- Spending time with our internal lab biologists, to understand how biologists think
- Defining interaction models, task flows and screen designs
- Defining our design systems, so others in the company or externals can create assets that are cohesive
- Taking part in discovery, workshop and co‑design sessions with customers and colleagues
Who You Are
- You want an environment where you have high autonomy and decision‑making agency to influence the direction
- Broad set of design skills across all aspects: from research, to human‑centred design, to prototyping and visualisation
- You’re curious and learn new areas fast
- A master of your toolkit – Figma (Our main tool), Adobe CC, After Effects and HTML/CSS
- Mastered the range of qualitative and quantitative research methods and when to apply them to validate your design
Nice to Have
- Have been the first designer at a startup in the past
- Ability to code: we welcome designers polishing the front‑end in production / contributing to the codebase
- A background in Biology or another science
Salary and Benefits
- Competitive salary with stock options
- Lunch covered daily
- Collaborative team environment with very high potential to learn new skills
- 24 days holiday (excluding bank holidays)
- Pension
- Awesome colleagues and an office in the Imperial College Innovation hub in White City, where you’ll be based
