Mythras is a pre-seed startup building an intelligence infrastructure layer for professional service firms. We are tackling the institutional memory gap in a $6t industry by capturing the high-stakes judgment that generic AI consistently misses. We have validated the commercial problem with partner-level leaders at top-tier firms and are now moving from Proof of Concept to MVP.
Technically, this means building systems that combine explicit semantic models, event-driven capture, and controlled LLM orchestration, not simply wrapping APIs. Our founding team brings a proven track record of scaling business intelligence platforms alongside deep, first-hand domain expertise from the top of the management consulting world.
As our first engineering hire, you are expected to be more than a developer. You will work directly alongside the founders and a specialised Knowledge Engineer to translate high-level semantic and reasoning models into a secure, performant, and user-friendly enterprise platform. While you will not be responsible for designing the underlying knowledge models themselves, you will be the primary bridge between deep intelligence and a production-grade product. This is a hands-on, zero-ego role. You will be writing production code daily while helping shape the architectural decisions that will define the company for years to come.
Core ResponsibilitiesInitial focus (first 6–9 months):
- Infrastructure & Architecture: Design and deploy a secure AWS or GCP environment, including CI/CD pipelines, database schema design, and API orchestration.
- MVP Development: Build and ship the core web application (frontend and backend) to support multi-tenant data ingestion, state management, and visualisation.
- Agent Integration: Implement deterministic orchestration logic for LLM-based agents, including execution flows, state handling, prompt management, and observability. This is not prompt tinkering — it is about building reliable intelligence workflows.
- Security & Compliance: Implement SOC2-ready security foundations from day one, including encryption at rest and in transit, robust identity management, and tenant isolation.
- ~4+ years of professional software engineering experience (startup experience preferred).
- ~ Full-stack proficiency: Strong experience in a modern backend language (Python, Node.js, or Go) and a modern frontend framework (React / Next.js).
- ~ Databases: Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and a working interest in non-relational systems (vector stores, graph databases).
- ~ DevOps fundamentals: Experience with Docker and cloud-native deployments.
- ~ Experience building early-stage systems that later scaled is a strong plus.
This role is for you if you:
- Enjoy building foundational systems from first principles.
- Care about correctness, traceability, and real-world decision-making impact.
- Want genuine ownership rather than a narrow ticket queue.
- Are excited by complex, interdisciplinary problems at the intersection of software, reasoning, and human judgment.
This role is not for you if you:
- Want a fully formed product, large team, or rigid roadmap on day one.
- Prefer narrow, well-defined problem spaces with little ambiguity.
- Compensation: c. £75k per annum.
- Equity: Meaningful founder-level equity, structured to reflect early risk and long-term ownership.
- Ownership: A direct seat at the strategy table and full technical agency over the codebase.
- Trajectory: We expect to raise a pre-seed round in the near term, with scope to revisit compensation post-raise.
