The Company Mythras is a pre-seed startup that turns voice interviews into structured, queryable intelligence that accumulates into a knowledge graph the customer organisation owns. Our product caters to investment teams, conducting interviews as part of diligence processes. Today, firms rely on dozens of unstructured reference calls per deal; the resulting insights surface as memos and notes, useful for the deal at hand and invisible across the portfolio. Mythras decomposes each conversation into structured evaluative output, surfaces cross-source patterns and risks, and compounds the firm’s diligence work into an intelligence asset.

Technically, this means building systems that combine a domain-specific evaluative ontology, a multi-layer knowledge graph, controlled LLM orchestration over voice and text, and a production-grade enterprise application on top. Our founding team brings a proven track record of building VC-backed business intelligence platforms, deep domain expertise in diligence and M&A workflows, nearly a decade of experience in ontology engineering and applied AI, and research excellence in behavioural science and human-AI interfaces.

The Role As our first engineering hire, you are expected to be more than a developer. You will work directly alongside the founders and our Knowledge Engineer to translate high-level semantic and reasoning models into a secure, performant, and user-friendly enterprise platform. While you will not be responsible for designing the underlying knowledge models themselves, you will be the primary bridge between deep intelligence and a production-grade product. This is a hands-on, zero-ego role. You will be writing production code daily while helping shape the architectural decisions that will define the company for years to come.

Core Responsibilities

  • Initial focus (first 6–9 months):
  • Infrastructure & Architecture: Design and deploy a secure AWS or GCP environment, including CI/CD pipelines, database schema design across PostgreSQL and Neo4j, and API orchestration.
  • MVP Development: Build and ship the core web application (frontend and backend) to support multi-tenant project setup, structured output review, cross-source synthesis views, and graph-backed firm intelligence interfaces.
  • Voice & Agent Integration: Implement deterministic orchestration logic for LLM- and voice-based agents, including execution flows, state handling, prompt management, and observability.
  • Graph Application Layer: Work closely with the Knowledge Engineer to expose the Neo4j-backed three-layer graph (interaction, project, organisation) through clean APIs and well-designed UI, with full provenance from extracted claim back to source utterance.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement SOC2-ready security foundations from day one, including encryption at rest and in transit, robust identity management, firm-scoped tenant isolation, and no-cross-customer-training guarantees baked into the architecture.

Traditional Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience (startup experience preferred).
  • Full-stack proficiency: strong experience in a modern backend language (Python, Node.js, or Go) and a modern frontend framework (React / Next.js).
  • Databases: solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and hands-on experience with graph databases (Neo4j strongly preferred), with a working interest in vector stores.
  • DevOps fundamentals: experience with Docker and cloud-native deployments.
  • Experience integrating with foundation LLM and/or voice APIs in production is a strong plus.
  • Experience building early-stage systems that later scaled is a strong plus.

Who This Role Is For

  • This role is for you if you:
  • Enjoy building foundational systems from first principles.
  • Care about correctness, traceability, and real-world decision-making impact.
  • Want genuine ownership rather than a narrow ticket queue.
  • Are excited by complex, interdisciplinary problems at the intersection of software, reasoning, voice, and human judgment.
  • This role is not for you if you:
  • Want a fully formed product, large team, or rigid roadmap on day one.
  • Prefer narrow, well-defined problem spaces with little ambiguity.

What We Offer

  • Compensation: c. £75k per annum.
  • Equity: Meaningful founder-level equity, structured to reflect early risk and long-term ownership.
  • Ownership: A direct seat at the strategy table and full technical agency over the codebase.
  • Trajectory: We expect to raise a pre-seed round in the near term, with scope to revisit compensation post-raise.
