Head of Project Management

Due to a reorganisation, we are now looking for a Head of Project Management to lead and shape our project delivery function through its next phase of growth. This is a pivotal leadership role where delivery excellence, people development, and technology innovation come together to create real impact. Key Areas of Activity

• Lead and evolve the project management function, aligning delivery practices with strategic goals and emerging technologies.
• Maintain and adapt a project delivery framework that balances structure with flexibility.
• Personally manage a portfolio of projects, maintaining a connection to day-to-day delivery.
• Drive effective time recording and a proactive scheduling of chargeable activity.
• Provide hands-on leadership and mentorship, supporting experienced professionals and those earlier in their careers.
• Foster a collaborative and respectful team culture, valuing the unique strengths of each team member.
• Partner closely with the senior Project Manager, promoting shared leadership and mutual trust.
• Conduct regular one-to-ones and annual performance reviews to support development and alignment.
• Leverage technology, automation, and practical AI to enhance visibility, efficiency, and user experience.
• Define and track KPIs for delivery effectiveness, embedding continuous improvement across the team.

About You

• Proven experience leading project delivery teams within software, consultancy, or technology-driven environments.
• Skilled in a range of delivery methodologies (e.g., agile, waterfall, hybrid) and project management tools (e.g., Asana, MS Project, Trello).
• Strong grasp of project governance, risk management, resource planning, and commercial control (budgets, margins, contracts).
• Experience designing or optimising delivery frameworks and driving continuous improvement.
• Comfortable managing change, transformation initiatives, and integrating automation or AI into delivery processes.
• Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and navigating complex client dynamics.
• Effective team leader with a track record of mentoring, performance management, and team development.
• Excellent communicator with strong collaboration and influencing skills across varied stakeholders.
• Organised, detail-oriented, and pragmatic under pressure in fast-paced SME environments.
• Proactive, resilient, and passionate about digital transformation, innovation, and delivering value.
• Project management certification e.g. Prince2, PMO, APM.
