This is a role for someone who wants to build a serious career in recruitment and people development. If you are confident, articulate and driven by progression, this role offers genuine career development in a high-performing environment.

We're looking for a Trainee Recruitment Consultant to join our HR team in Chelmsford Town Centre. You do not need recruitment experience, but you must be comfortable and energised by spending your day speaking to people on the phone, building relationships quickly and staying motivated by performance targets.

This is a career-focused role where you will develop skills that will serve you for life: communication, resilience, discipline, influence and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Your day will be fast-paced and people-focused. You can expect to spend around five hours per day on calls, speaking to candidates at different stages of their recruitment journey. Every conversation will teach you how to read people, adapt your communication style, handle objections with confidence and build rapport across different personalities and backgrounds.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contacting candidates and scheduling first stage interviews
  • Following up with candidates after interviews and keeping them engaged throughout the process
  • Moving suitable candidates through recruitment stages with professionalism and urgency
  • Supporting interview bookings and managing candidate expectations
  • Assisting with job offers, onboarding and new starter orientation
  • Managing candidate communication across multiple recruitment pipelines
  • Handling diary coordination, document processing and administration
  • Learning to source candidates through platforms such as LinkedIn and Indeed

You don't need previous recruitment experience. However, we're particularly interested in candidates from call centre, customer service, telesales, sales support, appointment setting, phone-based sales, customer care or hospitality backgrounds – experience managing high call volumes and targets would be highly beneficial.

You must be:

  • Confident and articulate on the phone with the ability to adapt to different people
  • Comfortable with high call volumes and working towards daily and weekly targets
  • Resilient and able to handle rejection without losing momentum
  • Well organised with strong diary management and follow-up discipline
  • Able to take control of conversations, build rapport and influence outcomes
  • Energetic, professional and genuinely interested in people
  • Motivated by performance, progression and long-term career growth

You should enjoy:

  • Speaking to people all day and learning how to connect with different personalities
  • Working in a busy, target-driven environment where your results are visible
  • Developing interpersonal skills that will serve you throughout your career
  • Being part of someone's success story from the very beginning

Full training will be provided from day one by the HR team. You will work closely with experienced recruitment professionals and learn each stage of the recruitment process step by step. Training will cover candidate calls, screening techniques, interview coordination, onboarding support, document handling and candidate sourcing.

There is a clear, performance-based progression route for someone who proves they can manage high-volume recruitment activity, take ownership and support company growth. The better you perform, the faster you progress.

Contract Type: Self-employed basis – flexibility and full control over your schedule

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm

Location: Fully on site in Chelmsford Town Centre

Pay: £400 net per week guaranteed, plus commission and performance-based incentives. Realistic starting OTE is £500–£600 net per week, depending on performance.

If you're confident on the phone, motivated by long-term career progression and ready to develop skills that will transform your professional life, we want to hear from you. Apply now with your current CV. Suitable candidates will be contacted within 48 hours to arrange a first-stage telephone interview. This is the first step in a career where your performance directly impacts your progression, your earnings and your future.
