An opportunity for a developing finance professional to step into a broad, hands-on Finance Manager role and build the experience needed for the next stage of their career. Myriad Products is a well-established renewable energy engineering company with over 20 years' experience delivering low-carbon energy systems. As the business grows, we are strengthening our finance team and looking for a Finance Manager to work closely with our Financial Controller and take responsibility for much of the day-to-day running of the finance function.
This could be an excellent next move for someone who has built a solid grounding in accounting and now wants broader exposure and more responsibility.
The Role
You will work directly with the Financial Controller, taking ownership of day-to-day financial operations while supporting management reporting, forecasting, budgeting and financial control across the business. This is a genuinely hands-on role. You will be working across the full finance function rather than specialising in one narrow area, giving you exposure to how finance operates within a growing SME.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing day-to-day accounts payable and receivable activity
- Bank reconciliations and general ledger postings
- Managing prepayments, accruals, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Assisting with cash-flow reporting, forecasts and budgets
- Setting up and processing weekly and monthly payments
- Supporting VAT returns, CIS submissions and payroll
- Working with operational teams to manage and reconcile stock across systems
- Providing cover across the finance function where required
- Helping improve finance systems, controls and processes as the business develops
You will report to and work closely with the Financial Controller, giving you direct exposure to the wider financial management of the business.
About You
You are likely to be someone who has already developed a good grounding in accounting but wants the opportunity to broaden your experience and take on more responsibility. You might currently be working as a:
- Management Accountant
- Assistant Management Accountant
- Assistant Accountant
- Senior Finance Assistant
The exact job title matters less than your ability and appetite to step up. You will have:
- Experience with Sage 50 Accounts
- Strong practical accounting knowledge
- Experience with reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments
- Good Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to organise your own workload and manage multiple deadlines
- A practical, hands-on approach
- The confidence to investigate problems and work things out rather than waiting to be shown every step
An AAT qualification, or progress towards ACCA or CIMA, would also be valuable, but practical ability and the desire to develop are just as important.
Building Your Finance Career
This role is particularly well suited to someone who wants to spend the next few years becoming a genuinely rounded finance professional. Rather than being confined to one part of an accounting function, you will gain practical experience across management accounts, cash flow, forecasting, budgeting, balance-sheet control, payments, payroll, tax submissions, stock and operational finance. You will work closely with an experienced Financial Controller and senior people across the business, giving you a much broader understanding of how finance supports a growing company. For the right person, that should provide an excellent platform for the next stage of a career in finance.
Location
This role is based full-time on site at Myriad Products in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. You should therefore already live within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate. You must also already have the unrestricted right to work in the UK. Myriad is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
Why Join Myriad Products
- 20+ years' experience in renewable energy engineering
- A growing business where finance works closely with operations and senior leadership
- Broad exposure across the finance function rather than a narrowly defined accounting role
- Direct support and development from the Financial Controller
- Genuine responsibility from an early stage
- An opportunity to build the experience needed for a future senior finance role
If you have developed a solid grounding in finance and are now looking for the opportunity to broaden your experience, take on more responsibility and build towards the next stage of your career, this is a role worth exploring.
