Lead the future of gas transmission infrastructure in a high-impact, long-term FEED project! Our Client has a requirement for a C&I Lead Principal Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Glasgow.
Role Purpose
Act as the functional Lead Engineer for a major project within the gas transmission industry. Spearhead the C&I scope of work across both FEED and Detailed Design phases. Foster and maintain a strong, collaborative relationship with the Client through regular face-to-face engagement.
Job Role Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers and Designers across both UK and global offices.
- Develop comprehensive Control & Instrument Engineering deliverables from concept through to start-up.
- Manage the C&I Discipline interface with other technical departments and project management.
- Oversee equipment specification, selection, and supplier compliance, ensuring all deliverables meet industry standards.
- Execute project work using advanced design tools and techniques while maintaining strict budget and schedule control.
- Ensure the highest standards of design safety and constructability throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications
- Extensive experience in Control & Instrument Engineering Design on medium-to-large capital projects.
- Proven track record within the Gas industry is essential.
- Prior experience as a G35 approver is highly advantageous.
- Technical expertise in DCS, PLC, and SIS systems (TUV FS Eng qualification or equivalent preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of Hazardous Area Instrumentation (ATEX) and Electrical protection methodologies.
- Proficient in P&ID development and the sizing of flow devices, control valves, and relief devices.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to proactively liaise with Client Engineers.
- Experience working within an EPC contracting organisation and managing global integrated delivery teams.
