We are currently recruiting for an experienced Payroll Adviser to join a busy team on an initial 9-month contract. The role will have a strong focus on payroll processing, pensions administration, statutory compliance and providing expert support to employees, pensioners and third parties.
The Role
- Process and maintain employee and pensioner payroll data, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
- Process new starters and leavers through the payroll system.
- Administer payroll and pension processes in line with legislation and company policies.
- Respond to and resolve payroll and pensions queries from employees, pensioners and third parties.
- Manually calculate SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP, PAYE, holiday pay and National Insurance.
- Manage tax codes and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements.
- Administer benefits, salary sacrifice schemes and third-party payments.
- Maintain knowledge of RTI, workplace pensions and CSA deductions.
- Support payroll reconciliation and year-end processes, including P35s, P14s and P11Ds.
- Coordinate payroll and pensions documentation and ensure processes are completed within agreed service levels.
- Identify and implement improvements to payroll and pensions processes following legislative or policy changes.
- Support payroll and pensions projects and wider business initiatives as required.
About You
- Proven experience in payroll processing, including new starters and leavers.
- Experience using systems such as Resourcelink, SAP or similar.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
- Experience calculating statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP, PAYE, holiday pay and NI.
- Experience with benefits, salary sacrifice schemes and third-party payments.
- Good knowledge of RTI, workplace pensions and CSA deductions.
- Experience with payroll reconciliation and year-end processes.
- Excellent numerical and data-entry skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A customer-focused approach and the ability to confidently handle payroll queries.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
