The Opportunity
We are working with a leading organisation looking to appoint a Technical Accounting Manager to join their finance team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a Big 4-trained qualified accountant who is looking to build a long-term career in technical accounting. The role would suit someone with a combination of audit and technical accounting experience, typically with around 2 years post-qualification experience, who is now keen to specialise and progress within a technical accounting environment. You will work closely with business groups and senior stakeholders, providing technical accounting advice and supporting a broad range of financial reporting activities.
The Role
- Providing technical accounting advice to business groups and finance stakeholders
- Preparing technical accounting papers and accounting assessments
- Supporting financial reporting and the preparation of annual reports
- Advising on accounting treatments and complex financial reporting matters
- Supporting financial statement disclosures and reporting requirements
- Researching and interpreting new and existing IFRS requirements
- Supporting the business with the implementation of accounting standards and changes in reporting requirements
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and high-quality accounting treatments
- Providing technical input into wider finance projects and initiatives
- Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the organisation
About You
We are looking for a qualified accountant who is genuinely interested in developing their career within technical accounting. Ideally, you will have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
- Around 2 years' post-qualification experience
- A Big 4 background, ideally combining audit experience with exposure to technical accounting
- Experience in a technical accounting, financial reporting or similar role, or demonstrable technical accounting expertise gained within an audit environment
- Experience working with a listed business is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of IFRS
- Excellent technical research and analytical skills
- A strong understanding of core financial processes and financial reporting
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
- The ability to communicate complex accounting matters clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- A proactive, self-starting and adaptable approach
- A strong drive to develop and progress within technical accounting
