Post Title: Teaching Assistant Apprentice (Level 3)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (20% of time is training)

Salary: £14,449.50, - £22,913 (Dependent on age, qualifications and experience)

Role Purpose

Salford City Academy is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and caring Teaching Assistant to support students in achieving their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and the SEND team to provide high-quality support for learning, helping to remove barriers to education and ensuring all students can access the curriculum and thrive within our inclusive school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students in lessons, individually and in small groups, to enhance learning and engagement.
  • Assist teachers with the preparation of learning materials and classroom activities
  • Provide targeted support for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring individual needs are met
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and independence in line with the school's behaviour policy
  • Help monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Support students' social, emotional, and personal development
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
  • Assist with educational visits, enrichment activities, and other school events as required
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.

Person Specification

We are looking for an individual who:

  • Has experience of working with young people, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Is patient, adaptable, and committed to supporting all learners.
  • Has strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Shares our commitment to raising aspirations and improving outcomes for every student.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
