At Greenshaw Learning Trust, we know that great HR plays an important role in creating schools where people can thrive. We are seeking an experienced Assistant HR Partner to join our HR team and provide expert support across our South East region.
This is a newly created role, offering an exciting opportunity to make a real difference across our schools. You will provide operational HR support when schools need additional capacity, while also working alongside our Regional HR Partners on employee relations, compliance, assurance and Trust-wide projects.
You will help ensure our schools receive a consistent, high-quality HR service, supporting colleagues and leaders to navigate complex people matters confidently and effectively.
About the Role
As an Assistant HR Partner, you will have two key areas of focus. You will provide operational HR cover within schools during periods of absence or increased demand, while supporting our Regional HR Partners with the delivery of the Trust's People Strategy.
You will work across different school environments, providing professional HR advice, supporting complex casework and investigations, maintaining high standards of compliance and helping schools apply HR processes consistently.
Main duties of the role include:
- Providing operational HR support to schools, including recruitment and onboarding, safeguarding checks, payroll, pensions and HR systems
- Acting as an Investigating Officer for disciplinary, grievance and bullying or harassment cases, as well as supporting employee relations hearings
- Conducting termly HR assurance checks across schools, reviewing Single Central Records, personnel files, recruitment procedures and payroll to identify and mitigate compliance risks
- Supporting School HR Leads with employment law, Trust policies and terms and conditions
- Helping Regional HR Partners with Trust growth activity, including due diligence and TUPE processes
We are looking for an individual who:
- Has substantial experience working as an HR Manager or Senior HR Advisor, with strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR good practice
- Has experience across the full recruitment lifecycle, maintaining Single Central Records, managing payroll and supporting formal HR investigations and reports
- Can work confidently across different school environments, using initiative to solve complex HR issues while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
- Is an excellent communicator who can build positive relationships, work collaboratively and provide professional advice with tact and diplomacy
- Is resilient, organised and able to manage competing priorities while identifying potential compliance risks
