Intelligence Researcher in Wallsend

Salary: Band 5, £28,689 - £29,859 (Please note it is Northumbria Police policy to appoint at the beginning of the band)

Location: Based at Middle Engine Lane, Wallsend, with travel to other Force locations as required.

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday

This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Crime Department as an Intelligence Researcher.

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Researcher to join Crime Department. In this rewarding role, you'll support investigations into Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Group-Based Child Sexual Exploitation (GBCSE) by researching, developing and analysing intelligence that informs operational activity and decision-making. Working closely with investigators, analysts and partner agencies, you'll help identify trends, develop intelligence opportunities and contribute to safeguarding vulnerable people and bringing offenders to justice.

What you’ll do

• Research and collate intelligence from a variety of sources to support investigations and intelligence development.
• Identify links, trends and patterns between crimes, locations, victims and suspects to support threat, harm and risk assessments.
• Undertake research requests and project work using internal and external systems and databases.
• Contribute to the development of analytical products, ensuring information is accurate, relevant and timely.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, partner agencies and other stakeholders to gather and share intelligence.
• Respond to ad hoc and urgent operational requests, providing research and intelligence support when required.
• Conduct open-source research and maintain accurate records in compliance with data protection legislation and national standards.

What you’ll bring

Essential Requirements:

• Previous experience of undertaking research.
• The ability to manage and prioritise your workload effectively and work to deadlines.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collate, interpret and present large volumes of information clearly and concisely.
• A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Experience of intelligence gathering and research techniques.
• Knowledge of the National Intelligence Model (NIM).
• Strong IT skills, including experience of working with large datasets.
• Experience of using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• RISC Researcher IPP Accreditation.

This is a fixed term role subject to a six-month probationary period.
