The role
Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Criminal Justice and Custody Department as a FPU Support Services Administrator.
As the FPU Support Services Administrator you will undertake a wide range of administrative and casework duties, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of services within the unit. Responsibilities include supporting the management, administration and processing of fixed penalty notices and maintaining accurate collision records across the force. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities and a commitment to ensuring information is processed accurately and in accordance with force procedures and legislative requirements. The role also involves providing advice, guidance and support to members of the public, responding to enquiries in a professional and customer-focused manner. Working closely with partner agencies and key stakeholders, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of effective services, ensuring information is shared appropriately and that enquiries are resolved efficiently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to build positive working relationships and maintain high standards of service provision.
What you’ll do
- Process and maintain records by inputting, updating and retrieving information across force systems to support the accurate flow of information and case progression.
- Manage and update case files, ensuring information is recorded accurately, actions are completed and deadlines are met.
- Provide professional advice and support to members of the public regarding Fixed Penalty Notices and collision-related enquiries, handling sensitive or challenging situations effectively.
- Support officers and staff by providing guidance on legislation, offences and procedural requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant criteria and time limits.
- Maintain accurate section records and performance data using both electronic and paper-based systems to support operational effectiveness and reporting requirements.
What you’ll bring
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team environment, collaborating across a range of functions to achieve shared objectives.
- Educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent) or able to demonstrate relevant experience in a similar role.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment, managing competing priorities while meeting deadlines, performance targets and quality standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work accurately, use initiative and respond effectively to complex customer enquiries.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with the public, colleagues and partner agencies, and present evidence effectively in court when required.

This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
