The Opportunity

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Nuclear Medicine Radiographer to join a forward thinking and patient centred team. You will play a pivotal role in delivering high quality diagnostic imaging services. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills across a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures in a well equipped and supportive department. You will participate in extended working days and out of hours sessions, including general X ray rotation and on call responsibilities, contributing to a responsive and comprehensive service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Clinical Excellence
  • Perform a wide range of nuclear medicine duties, including radionuclide imaging, organ uptake measurements, and quantitative analysis of imaging data.
  • Prepare and dispense radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring the highest standards of safety and accuracy.
  • Prepare imaging data for clinical reporting and ensure all clinical data is securely archived according to departmental protocols.
  • Champion patient care by maintaining the highest standards of compassion, communication, and safety, with a special focus on radiation protection and dosage.
  • Strictly adhere to all Radiation Protection rules, including IR(ME)R 2018 NI, Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017, and Local Rules.
  • Take responsibility for the safe and effective use of equipment, promptly reporting any defects or safety concerns.
  • Leadership, Mentorship & Development
    • Lead by example, setting a high standard of personal and professional conduct within the team.
    • Provide guidance, support, and clinical supervision to junior staff, assistant practitioners, and student radiographers, contributing to a positive learning environment.
    • Actively participate in research, clinical audit programmes, and the evaluation of new procedures and equipment to drive continuous improvement.
    • Commit to your own continuing professional development (CPD) through post registration courses and in service education.
  • Service Contribution & Flexibility
    • Participate fully in the departmental rota, including extended working days, evenings, weekends, public holidays, and the emergency out of hours service (including at short notice).
    • Contribute to the general X ray rotation and on call services as required, demonstrating flexibility to meet the evolving needs of the service.
    • Support continuous quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with all Trust policies, including Health & Safety, COSHH, Infection Prevention and Control, and the HCPC Code of Professional Conduct.

    Who We Are Looking For

    Essential Qualifications: HCPC/CORU Registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer. A recognised qualification in Nuclear Medicine (Desirable).

    Knowledge: Related Diagnostic Radiography principles and best practices. A thorough understanding of IR(ME)R 2018 NI, Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017, and their practical application of radiation protection principles and local rules.

    Minimum 1 Year relevant experience

    Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A commitment to delivering compassionate patient care and evidence based practice.

    Additional Information

    This appointment is subject to a successful pre employment checks and health assessment. Candidates must have the right to work in the ROI or UK. A 6 month probationary period applies.
