Are you an experienced Scrub Nurse looking for an exciting opportunity within a leading private eye hospital? We are currently seeking an experienced Scrub Nurse to join a highly supportive and forward-thinking ophthalmology team based in North London. The successful Scrub Nurse will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the ophthalmic surgical pathway, providing excellent standards of patient care and skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team. The role may also involve peri-operative and post-operative care within the surgical and refractive suites, as well as assisting with minor procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide high-quality nursing care throughout the patient's surgical journey, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
- Maintain the privacy, dignity and wellbeing of patients at all times.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure appropriate surgical instruments and equipment are available.
- Ensure surgical equipment is disposed of appropriately and that reusable equipment is correctly decontaminated and sterilised.
- Ensure all surgical documentation and traceability records are completed accurately.
- Adhere to relevant clinical, departmental and organisational policies and procedures.
- Support the delivery of safe, efficient and patient-focused ophthalmic surgical services.
Requirements:
- Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
- Current NMC registration (for nurses) or HCPC registration (for ODPs) with no restrictions
- Qualification or experience in Ophthalmology or Peri-operative Care
- Minimum of one year's ophthalmic surgical theatre experience
- Good computer and IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Aware of CQC standards and requirements
- Strong commitment to patient safety and delivering high-quality care
