Pay: £600 to £650 per day, Inside IR35
About the role
You will provide technical leadership on a major Cisco SD-WAN and network transition programme for a secure public sector customer. It suits a senior architect who leads complex designs rather than just contributing to them, and who is comfortable presenting to formal governance boards. You will support a Principal Technical Architect on strategy and roadmaps, and deputise for them when needed.
You must hold active UK Security Clearance (SC). Customer-site requirements are still to be confirmed.
What you'll be doing
- Lead architecture decisions across complex customer environments, covering routing, connectivity, segmentation, security and resilience
- Support the definition of technical strategies, roadmaps and architectures
- Oversee design reviews, applying Secure by Design principles and architectural governance
- Prepare presentation packs for Technical Design Authority and Security Board meetings, and deputise for the Principal Technical Architect where required
- Coordinate with cross-government teams and third-party suppliers to deliver cohesive, integrated solutions
- Mentor and coach other architects, and act as a trusted advisor to senior customer stakeholders
What we're looking for
- Essential: active UK SC clearance
- Essential: Cisco SD-WAN experience, including BGP
- Essential: CCNP, or demonstrable equivalent knowledge of switching, routing, firewalling and load balancing
- Essential: a track record of leading complex technical architectures in regulated, enterprise or public sector environments
- Essential: experience with Technical Design Authority or similar governance, and producing architecture documentation that applies Secure by Design principles
- Essential: excellent stakeholder management and the ability to explain complex topics to varied audiences
- Desirable: NPPV3 clearance
- Desirable: AWS or Azure cloud networking, cloud security architecture, network automation or infrastructure as code
- Desirable: TOGAF Foundation or BCS Enterprise and Solution Architecture certification
What you get
- A day rate of £600 to £650, Inside IR35
- A 6 or 12-month contract with a view to extend
- A short, focused engagement with clear deliverables
- A fast interview process and quick start
- Exposure to modern cloud platforms, with scope to broaden into cloud, AI and IoT architecture on future programmes
This role suits A senior network architect with active SC clearance and Cisco SD-WAN depth who wants to lead design on a high-profile public sector programme.
