Consultant Psychiatrist
The Opportunity
We are currently partnering with multiple leading NHS trusts and private healthcare providers across England who are seeking experienced Consultant Psychiatrists to join their clinical teams.
These roles offer the opportunity to provide expert clinical leadership and deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care within supportive, multidisciplinary environments β spanning inpatient, community, and specialist adult and older adult mental health services.
The Role
You will manage a complex caseload and act as Responsible Clinician for patients, including those detained under the Mental Health Act.
Your role will combine direct clinical care β conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments, leading ward rounds or team reviews, and developing evidence-based treatment plans β with broader clinical leadership responsibilities.
You will work closely within a multidisciplinary team, liaising with GPs, hospital specialists, and external agencies to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care pathways.
You will also contribute to clinical governance, service improvement, and quality assurance initiatives, while supervising, mentoring, and teaching junior medical staff.
What We're Looking For
- Full GMC registration with a valid licence to practise.
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register (or within six months of CCT/CESR).
- Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility within three months).
- MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Proven experience acting as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act.
- Strong clinical leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Expertise in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, risk assessment, and treatment planning.
- Experience providing clinical supervision and teaching to junior medical staff.
- Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and relevant mental health legislation.
- Excellent communication skills for liaison with patients, carers, and external agencies.
- A demonstrated commitment to clinical governance, audit, and service improvement.
