The successful Nursery Room Leader will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Minimum of 2–3 years' experience working in a nursery or early years setting
  • Prior experience in a senior, supervisory, or room leader role preferred
  • Sound knowledge of the EYFS framework and current childcare legislation
  • Up-to-date Paediatric First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Safeguarding/Child Protection training
  • Strong understanding of child development stages and safe practices
  • Experience conducting observations, assessments, and progress reports
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with children, parents, and staff
  • Enhanced DBS check (or equivalent background check) required
  • Leadership or team management experience is an advantage

What You Will Be Doing as a Nursery Room Leader

  • Promote high standards of quality within the nursery
  • Support and supervise playroom staff with their day-to-day duties
  • Deploy staff appropriately to ensure that the required standards are delivered and maintained within the rooms
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the nursery keycarer procedures and allocate children to keycarers appropriately
  • Ensure that practice and provision in the nursery meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Provide professional, relevant feedback to parents and carers about their child
  • Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers
  • Develop open and positive working relationships with staff
  • Ensure that all staff develop and maintain friendly, professional relationships with parents and carers
