Welcome to Heretaunga, the area renowned for its rich and fertile landscape that is sustained by its life-giving dews and waterways. As a Lifeguard with HDC, your main focus will be creating a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. From keeping a close eye on aquatic activities to managing hazards and stepping in during water rescues, you’ll play a key role in ensuring health and safety. You’ll also help make our facilities welcoming and fun, encouraging more people to join and enjoy everything we have to offer.
About you
- Be a confident swimmer, able to swim 200m in 6 minutes or under, 50m Breaststroke (not timed), 25m sidestroke (not timed)
- Have completed, be currently undertaking, or willing to undertake, learning in:
- National Pool Lifeguard Award
- First Aid
- Pool Water Treatment certificate
- Child Protection training
- Austswim Teacher of swimming and water safety
- Be a strong communicator, able to get your message across to a wide variety of people
Aquatics Hastings facilities operate 7 days per week opening from 5:30am to 10:30pm and successful candidates will be expected to be able to work within these times, as required. This role is based primarily at Clive Pool, however you may be required to work from other Hastings District Council sites.
