Welcome to Heretaunga, the area renowned for its rich and fertile landscape that is sustained by its life-giving dews and waterways. Our libraries aren't what they used to be - they're vibrant, noisy spaces where we have Nerf Wars, screaming kids and visitors from all parts of our community. These spaces can be tough, but the moments when visitors enjoy themselves or learn something new make it worth it. We offer a wealth of resources and are safe, welcoming and vibrant community spaces.
To support these, we are currently looking for a part-time Library Assistant. This part-time role offers 38 hours per week with set shifts on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday:
- Tuesday to Friday: 8.30am – 5.30pm
- Saturday: 9.30am – 4.00pm

To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have an understanding of the role of Libraries in our Communities.
- Be able to engage with people from all walks of life, show empathy and be aware of the challenges people face in modern society.
- Be flexible and able to accept change.
- Be confident when assisting customers.
- Have an understanding of tech systems, able to help our customers where they may need support.
- Enjoy working in different environments - and be able to travel between our three library sites.
