About The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and curious Asset Data Governance Analyst to join Southern Water at an exciting time in our data transformation journey. This role sits within our Asset Data team and is central to ensuring the quality, integrity, and governance of our asset information as we transition toward an Azure-based environment. You will take ownership of our asset data quality dashboard—an evolving and business-critical tool that measures and reports data quality across multiple dimensions. As the team shifts from SQL and Oracle to Azure technologies, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining, enhancing, and preparing our data for future ways of working.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Looking after, maintaining, and continuously improving the asset data quality dashboard
  • Investigating and resolving dashboard issues and data inconsistencies
  • Supporting Asset Data Specialists by gathering and reviewing data insights
  • Querying large and complex SQL and Oracle datasets to support data quality assessment
  • Supporting the transition of existing data processes into an Azure-based environment
  • Adapting to an evolving toolset as the team refines BAU operations during the Azure move

Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid working with predominantly remote delivery
  • Monthly travel to Durrington for team meetings
  • Role is data-heavy and requires strong technical capability—this is not an Excel-only position

What you will bring to the role:

Essential:

  • Strong SQL experience, ideally across both Oracle and Microsoft SQL
  • Ability to work with large and complex data sets efficiently
  • Ability to query databases in multiple ways and troubleshoot data issues
  • Strong systems mindset with capability to adapt to changing toolsets (SQL → Azure)
  • Experience working with data dashboards and reporting tools

Desirable:

  • Experience with Azure technologies
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview or other data lineage/governance tools
  • Experience in data analysis within a utilities or asset management environment

Progression opportunities:

As Southern Water accelerates its data transformation, this role provides excellent opportunities to gain exposure to Azure analytics, data governance frameworks, and to develop into more senior technical or data governance positions over time.

About Southern Water:

Southern Water is at the forefront of transforming Britain's water industry, investing significantly to enhance resilience, sustainability, and service excellence. With £7.8bn planned investment for 2025-30, this is an unparalleled opportunity to join a business committed to delivering a generational shift in the way water services are managed. You will be joining at a time of significant change, working alongside a highly skilled leadership team with a clear vision for the future. We offer an environment where professionals can make a meaningful impact, influence strategic decisions, and drive long-term value creation.

Our Commitment to Diversity:

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. We do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or any other protected characteristic.
