At CGI, we help UK Government departments deliver clear, accessible, and user-focused digital services. As a Content Designer, you will lead content strategies and digital experiences to simplify complex information and improve service usability across government programmes. You will work within multidisciplinary agile teams, combining user insight, accessibility standards, and content design expertise to create impactful digital content aligned to GOV.UK principles. This is an opportunity to influence public sector transformation while growing your career in a collaborative environment that values innovation, ownership, and continuous development. Due to the secure nature of some programmes, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.
Responsibilities
- Lead & deliver accessible, user-centred content for government digital services
- Create & manage content aligned to GOV.UK style guidelines and WCAG 2.2 AA standards
- Collaborate & influence multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to improve service experiences
- Conduct & support content audits, gap analyses, and content improvement initiatives
- Analyse & apply user research findings to inform content design decisions
- Simplify & translate complex information into clear, concise, and actionable content
- Support & guide colleagues on content design best practices and accessibility standards
- Contribute & improve content through usability testing, analytics, and iterative design approaches
- Work & adapt within agile delivery environments using CMS and government publishing tools
Qualifications
- Proven experience in Content Design within government or public sector digital services
- Strong understanding of the GOV.UK style guide, design principles, and accessibility standards
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA and inclusive content design practices
- Experience working with content management systems and government publishing tools
- Ability to analyse complex information and communicate it clearly and effectively
- Experience using user research insights to inform and improve content strategies
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Welsh
- Experience working within agile multidisciplinary delivery teams
- Ability to support and guide others on content design best practice
