Job Purpose: To lead a nominated team within the Transport function of the DC and ensure all processes within that function are carried out to the specified standards required, in a safe manner, ensuring operational efficiencies are identified and maximised. This includes ensuring deliveries to our retail outlets on time & in full and ensuring maximum opportunity for sales.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Take full responsibility of the daily transport operation and manage any ad-hoc requests to meet business requirements.
  • Be flexible in your role including occasional extra hours and being part of an on call rota at weekends.
  • Motivate, coach and develop a team of colleagues in order that they are able to carry out their duties in a knowledgeable, efficient and safe manner.
  • Take ownership and monitor all people management issues for permanent staff within their area of responsibility, liaising with HR to ensure a fair and consistent approach in accordance with company policies.
  • Take responsibility for the weekly performance of the site with regards to: Compliance / H&S - vehicle maintenance / DPRAs; Delivery performance / People; Cost, KPI performance & Shrinkage.
  • Provide the Transport Manager with a weekly report on the status of the above tasks.
  • Continuously review and develop specified processes within their area of responsibility, working closely with the driver management team, planning team & DC operational teams linking into the transport dept.
  • Provide store operations with a comprehensive and reliable service, optimising in-store availability via the transport function.
  • Relay any concerns around delivery points to the DPRA Manager to ensure all H&S concerns are dealt with and actioned accordingly.
  • Collaborate fully with other Team Leaders & their teams to support the overall performance of a shift.
  • Provide an effective and seamless shift handover to the oncoming team.
  • Provide the Transport Manager with timely updates on progress within their area of responsibility and raise and resolve areas of concern.
  • Positively contribute to ensuring a site culture which demonstrates the Company values.
  • Deliver objectives and targets set by the Transport Manager through your PDR.
  • Understand company values and demonstrate improvement in key areas.
