Summarized Purpose: We are currently hiring for a Scientist dedicated team in Stevenage. The successful candidates will support ongoing laboratory research projects through hands-on experimental work, contributing to sample preparation, data generation, and analysis across multiple platforms while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
The Flow Cytometry Scientist will support experimental workflows involving flow cytometry, including sample preparation, instrument operation, and downstream data analysis using FlowJo. This role will contribute to experimental design, data interpretation, and presentation of results.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of complex sample preparations
- Set up and maintain instrumentation
- Train on routine operation, maintenance and theory of instrumentation, SOPs and regulatory procedures and guidelines
- Maintain accurate experimental records
- Ensure QA findings are addressed appropriately
- Problem solving, either independently or with assistance pertaining to extraction and/or instrumentation problems
- Communicate project status to project leader
- Perform work assignments accurately, and in a timely and safe manner according to Health and Safety procedures
- Review, interpret, and analyze data using FlowJo
- Perform self and peer review of the data for accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements prior to submission to QA and issuance to customers
Education And Experience:
- BSc (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a closely related discipline
- MSc or equivalent postgraduate qualification is desirable but not essential, depending on experience
- Demonstrated practical laboratory experience in Flow Cytometry
- Certification or documented training in flow cytometry operation and FlowJo analysis
- Formal training or certification in laboratory health & safety and good laboratory practice (GLP) is desirable
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
- 2+ years of experience in flow cytometry sample preparation and data acquisition
- Strong expertise in FlowJo for data analysis, gating strategies, and figure generation
- Experience with multicolor panels, antibody titration, and compensation
- Ability to independently troubleshoot experiments and interpret complex datasets
- Background in immunology or cellular phenotyping is an advantage
- Familiarity with SOPs, lab documentation, and health & safety compliance
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
