Shift Pattern: 24/7 - 12-hour shifts | 4 week rotating days and nights
At Mars, we are looking for a dedicated Shift Operations Manager to lead and develop a high-performing production team - including Operators, Area Leaders, and Shift Engineers - while delivering against safety, quality, and efficiency targets. In this hands-on role, you'll spend 50% of your time in your operational area and 50% focused on coaching, development, and continuous improvement activities. You'll be accountable for the smooth running of your lines, ensuring compliance with all safety and food quality standards, and driving a culture of ownership, problem-solving, and collaboration.
What You'll Do
- Lead and coach your team to safely meet daily production plans
- Ensure consistent delivery of quality standards through routine checks and escalation of issues
- Develop and maintain a trained, competent, and engaged team
- Own and optimise labour planning and resource alignment with key stakeholders
- Coordinate maintenance activities and ensure effective handovers
- Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to eliminate recurring losses
- Monitor key performance indicators and champion continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in shift or operational leadership, ideally in manufacturing or engineering
- Strong data-driven decision making and problem-solving skills
- Effective communicator with the ability to coach and influence across levels
- Working knowledge of safety and food quality standards (IOSH, HACCP, Food Hygiene Level 3)
- Computer literacy and confidence using operational systems
- Relevant qualifications (Level 4-5 or equivalent experience)
