A Project Design Engineer combines elements of traditional Project Management and Design Engineering, managing projects through the outline and detailed design lifecycle while supporting multi-disciplinary teams. The role focuses on water and wastewater projects across Bournemouth, Poole and South Dorset.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a 'project triangle' alongside a Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to consider technical, constructability and commercial aspects of project delivery.
  • Lead the design of treatment or infrastructure projects from initial outline to detailed design, through construction, commissioning and handover.
  • Coordinate the project team – civil, electrical, mechanical and process designers, BIM modelers and technical specialists – to ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget and to quality defined by frameworks and industry specifications.
  • Undertake design in one’s own discipline and mentor less experienced colleagues where appropriate.
  • Build positive relationships with the client’s project, operational and technical assurance teams and promote a 'one-team' approach.

Qualifications

  • Accredited degree in Engineering – Civil, Mechanical, Process or Electrical.
  • Incorporated Member of an Engineering Institution.
  • Experience in outline and detailed design of water or wastewater projects.
  • Knowledge of Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015.
