Overview
We’re looking for a Portfolio Governance Manager to join our collaborative Digital Technology & Change team on a 12-month FTC, based at our Solihull office with hybrid working. This is an exciting opportunity to lead portfolio governance across our Industrial & Commercial (I&C) business—a £7 billion revenue pillar of E.ON UK serving around 30,000 customers and 250,000 meter points. You’ll work with a team of PMO professionals to ensure the right initiatives, projects and programmes are prioritised, resourced, and delivered in line with our strategy. Collaborating closely with senior leadership, you’ll help guide business-critical change, ensure strong governance, and support our transition to a value-based methodology and agile product delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting and developing a high-performing team to deliver portfolio management and governance across all I&C change initiatives.
- Leading the portfolio planning and prioritisation processes to ensure investments align with strategy and deliver maximum value.
- Managing the I&C backlog via Air Traffic Control on behalf of senior leadership, maintaining a single, dynamic view of active, scheduled and new work across the I&C business.
- Overseeing frameworks, controls, and reporting for effective change delivery, including compliance, audits, and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for the delivery and maintenance of a fit-for-purpose (methodology-agnostic) Governance Model and supporting Change delivery systems and processes, including financial management across Change & Run.
- Coordinating resource planning to ensure the right skills are in place across programmes and projects.
- Driving the transition from traditional PMO to Value Management Office (VMO), embedding lean governance and value-focused behaviours.
- Delivering portfolio-level reporting, performance KPIs, and management information to inform senior-level decision-making.
- Collaborating with senior stakeholders to secure investment and shape the change agenda.
What We Need From You
- Extensive experience in portfolio, programme, and project management, with strong knowledge of change governance frameworks.
- Proven ability to inspire, develop, and support a team in a dynamic environment.
- Strong influencing skills, with the ability to clarify complex issues and ensure alignment across the organisation.
- Deep understanding of multi-methodology delivery (Agile, Product, Scrum, SAFe, Prince2, MSP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent understanding of business systems, process hierarchies, and governance frameworks, including financial management.
Nice to Have
- Relevant professional qualifications such as MSP, APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or Agile certifications.
- Experience supporting a PMO or governance function through transformation.
- Familiarity with value-based portfolio management and agile product delivery.
- Tooling experience: Power BI, Jira, Asana, Excel, New Relic, etc.
