What is the opportunity? The Finance Department provides support to the business and fulfils internal and external financial reporting functions. It is responsible for providing monthly and quarterly reports on business performance to management and all areas of the organisation, including head office in Tokyo. It performs a vital role in the annual business planning process, coordinates the external audit, produces published accounts, and is responsible for tax policy and compliance.
What will you be doing?
- Support line Management in day to day activities for both MHI and MHBK, London Branch
- Management of outsourced overseas resources to ensure good team balance and cross coverage.
- Ensure design and maintenance of various Finance systems so they are fit for purpose, be proactive and work with IT functions for any required enhancements and ensure data integrity is maintained at all times.
- Assist in the production and review of monthly reporting, including the Executive Committee report and Department Reports.
- Assist in the monthly expense and income forecasting and business plan process.
- Co-prepare monthly reporting of results to Tokyo Head office, including but not limited to the weekly Forecast, Actual and Budget.
- Business partner through regular performance meetings with Front and Back offices in terms of understanding their expense results and identifying opportunities for savings.
- Analyse expense and income trends and provide comments on comparison against budget, forecast and prior periods.
- Have a thorough understanding of a multi-departmental entity and cost allocation model.
- Any ad hoc requests.
What do you need to succeed?
- Good team player, proactive attitude with ability to work on own initiative.
- Good eye for detail with ability to present findings to others clearly.
- Good communication skills with ability to effectively present technical data to non-technical managers across the business.
- Strong data manipulation, analysis and presentation skills.
- Good understanding of accounting concepts.
- Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, in particular Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
