Job Details
- Role: Early Years Apprentice
- Location: Mulberry Day Nursery, Maidenhead, SL6 4ET
- Contract: 37.5 hours/week, 52 weeks/year
- Working Pattern: Varied shifts Monday-Friday between 07:30-18:30
- Start Date Window: August 18th – September 18th 2026
- Salary: £8.00 per hour to start, rising to £10.41 per hour after six months in post. If you are aged 21 or over, after 12 months there will be a further increase to £12.74 per hour.

About You
- Passionate about building a career with children; interest in child development and caring for babies and young children under five.
- Keen to learn: Enjoy practical tasks, excited about planning and implementing high-quality, engaging activities linked to the early years curriculum, promoting children’s learning through play; observe, assess, and record children’s progress.
- Nurturing and empathetic, prioritise safety: Ensure every child feels safe, valued, and happy, children’s well-being is promoted, needs met, with respect for policies and procedures, following direction from management and Trainer/Assessor.
- Can manage time effectively: Use off-job learning time to engage in studies, allocate time for coursework, submit by deadlines.
- Collaborative: Work in partnership with others, strong verbal and written communication, build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
What Our Apprenticeship Offers You
- Blend of practical experience and theory: Based at the nursery, Trainer/Assessor visits regularly, attend group training sessions (usually once every 6-8 weeks) at our academy.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 early years qualification: Engage in either Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification; online initial assessment to determine level.
- English and/or maths Functional Skills qualifications: If not already held, will undertake the relevant functional skill qualifications.
- A paediatric first aid qualification: Course at academy, certificate valid for three years.
Eligibility Criteria
- Documentation to evidence Right to Work in UK and National Insurance Number.
- Photographic ID: valid passport or driving licence (full or provisional).
- Access to a computer to undertake online assessment and submit coursework.
- Resident in UK for at least last three years.
- Comfortable travelling to/from group training sessions at our academy, travel costs covered.
