The Deal Advisory team spans eight areas: Transport, TMT, Energy Transition, ESG, Renewables, Power & Bioenergy, Corporate Finance and Strategy & Economics. We're business strategists, engineers, economists, change managers, investment specialists and digital experts guiding clients through transactions and delivering real-world infrastructure deployment.

As part of our growth, we're seeking a driven student to join our Deal Advisory team over summer. Arup's award-winning Business and Investor Advisory (BIA) team is recognised as one of the leading technical and ESG advisers in global infrastructure markets. We provide strategic advice across the full project lifecycle, helping clients navigate complex financial, commercial and technical decisions. Our work spans international markets and includes project finance transactions, infrastructure M&A, and the development of robust business cases for major infrastructure projects.

As a summer intern, you'll work alongside a diverse team of consultants, engineers, planners, and sustainability experts across sectors such as transport, water, energy, environmental services and emerging technologies. This collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach - known as Total Design, a core Arup value - ensures you'll gain a deep understanding of how your data expertise contributes to real-world outcomes.

Your placement within our Deal Advisory team will be guided by your preferences, academic background, and areas of interest. You'll have the opportunity to work across several of our eight specialist sectors: Transport, Telecoms, Media & Technology (TMT), Energy Transition, ESG, Renewables, Power & Bioenergy. Our goal is to provide you with broad exposure to different asset areas during your time with us, helping you build a diverse skill set and a strong foundation for your future career.

We're looking for motivated individuals studying in Engineering with a focus on Civil/ structural/ geotechnics, Data Science Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Geology / Geography, Philosophy, Engineering with a focus on Renewables/ Electrical, Engineering with a focus on mechanical, process or chemical, or a related discipline, who are eager to apply their skills to help shape sustainable, data-driven solutions for infrastructure investment. Ideal candidates will have:

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally
  • Great reasoning and analytical skills to provide robust deal insights
  • Ability to engage with colleagues and project stakeholders to drive successful deal outcomes
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills to ensure effective contribution to projects
