Role Description

An exciting opportunity to join our Corporates Credit team as part of Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB) Credit, managing and delivering credit relationships for corporate clients in line with the company’s growth strategy, risk appetite and underwriting standards. GCIB Credit delivers credit underwriting, debt financing solutions and derivative strategies for medium and large corporate clients across GCIB & Global Markets. The group serves middle‑market and large corporations, government entities and institutional investors, offering services such as M&A advice, equity and debt capital raising, corporate lending, fixed‑income trading, and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial and credit analysis, risk rating analysis ensuring adherence to prevailing credit policy and procedures for an assigned portfolio.
  • Independently assess credit worthiness, perform intensive qualitative and quantitative due diligence of prospective borrowers and trading counterparties, and establish appropriate terms and conditions to mitigate risk.
  • Structure transactions, underwrite and negotiate credit documentation designed to meet client and investor needs including credit agreements, amendments and derivative documentation.
  • Ensure granularity of the portfolio with reference to targets for net country/credit capital, legally binding commitments, total exposure and asset quality.
  • Establish appropriate internal risk ratings for clients and implement accurate adjustments throughout the credit life cycle.
  • Maintain portfolio and credit management processes rated “satisfactory” by internal auditors, the Credit Review group and external regulators.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the product spectrum and portfolio at client, industry and macro levels to assess risk and craft value‑added solutions.
  • Build and manage internal relationships with business partners including Corporate and Investment Bankers, Sales & Trading, Risk Management, Syndications and Legal.
  • Participate in strategic projects to support business goals.

What We Are Looking For

  • BA/BSc degree (or equivalent); Finance, Accounting or Economics beneficial.
  • Prior experience in financial services, preferably credit risk management, demonstrating ability to identify, assess, monitor, control and mitigate credit risk.
  • Strong credit skills, risk judgment and ability to defend a fact‑based point of view.
  • Knowledge and interest in industry risk, transaction risk and awareness of country, reputational and operational risk.
  • Ability to quickly absorb and apply internal credit policies and procedures; continuously learning with a proactive work ethic.
  • Commercial mindset to support value‑added discussions with effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of credit risk sensitivities and risk drivers of exposures.
  • Interest in finance, macroeconomics and geopolitics.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including preparation and review of financial models.
  • Strong teamwork, organizational skills, ability to prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, concise and attentive to accuracy and detail.
  • Fluency in English required; additional European languages, especially German, highly beneficial.
