The Associate Director, Global CIB Events will partner closely with the Head of Global CIB Events to deliver and execute the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) global events strategy. This role is responsible for designing and delivering high-impact, client-centric event programmes that strengthen brand positioning, enhance client engagement, and support business growth across key corporate and financial institutional segments. The role requires strong collaboration with global business stakeholders, including Client Coverage, Transaction Banking, and Global Banking & Markets, as well as Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing (CABM) teams. The successful candidate will act as a custodian of the client event experience, ensuring consistency, quality, and measurable impact across all initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Strategy & Execution: Support the development and execution of the global CIB events strategy aligned with business and marketing objectives. Plan and deliver world-class global and regional events, including flagship summits, roundtables, hospitality programmes, and sponsorship activations. Localise global initiatives and optimise sponsorship assets to maximise client engagement and brand visibility. Lead end-to-end event management, from concept through execution to post-event evaluation.
- Project & Programme Management: Manage all phases of event delivery, including planning, stakeholder alignment, timelines, and execution. Develop high-quality presentations, briefing materials, and communication decks for senior stakeholders. Ensure consistent delivery of event messaging, incorporating broader campaign narratives and marketing content. Oversee logistics, including venue coordination, production, collateral, and shipping requirements.
- Stakeholder & Client Engagement: Partner with senior business stakeholders to design event programmes that support commercial objectives and deepen client relationships. Build strong internal networks across global teams to identify opportunities for collaboration and process improvement. Manage client invitation strategies, engagement tracking, and reporting using event management platforms (e.g. Cvent).
- Vendor & Partnership Management: Manage relationships with external vendors, agencies, and sponsorship partners to ensure seamless event delivery. Oversee vendor onboarding processes in line with internal policies and third-party risk management (TPRM) requirements. Ensure effective contract management, procurement processes, and budget control.
- Performance Measurement & Reporting: Track and evaluate event effectiveness using agreed metrics and analytics tools. Measure ROI and provide insights to inform future event strategies. Maintain accurate reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, including cross-border cost allocations where applicable.
- Governance, Risk & Compliance: Ensure all events comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and the Group's Risk Management Framework. Maintain accurate documentation and support audit and risk processes. Uphold the highest standards of governance, ethics, and business conduct in all activities.
Skills and Experience
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align event strategies to commercial objectives and measure event performance and ROI.
- Extensive experience in delivering large-scale, high-profile events for senior executive (C-suite) audiences, including virtual, hybrid, and in-person formats.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across senior and global audiences.
- Experience managing external vendors, agencies, and strategic partnerships.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences.
- Proficiency in event management tools such as Cvent and virtual platforms (e.g. Zoom Events).
- Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills, with strong communication and presentation abilities.
- Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, matrix environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Events Management, Business, or a related field.
- Proven experience in event management within a global organisation, preferably in financial services.
- Strong understanding of working within a regulated environment and adherence to governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with vendor management, procurement processes, and compliance requirements.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Flexibility to travel internationally and work outside standard hours as required.
