We’re looking for an EC&I Engineer to join our operations team at Steven’s Croft Biomass Power Station, a 48MW facility located in Lockerbie, Scotland. This is an incredibly rare chance to join our high performing, safety-focused, performance-driven team. In the role, you’ll help keep our plant running safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical and control system support and expertise to the site team.
  • Carry out key Safety Rule roles of Authorised Person, Selected Person, Competent Person and Nominated Supervisor.
  • Take ownership for the safe, compliant and commercially optimised operation and maintenance of all site electrical assets.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers and internal asset management colleagues to ensure a robust maintenance management programme.
  • Develop, adopt and implement best electrical engineering and maintenance practices for you and your team.
  • Develop and own personal development and training plans for you and your team.
  • Ensure the plant is maintained in a safe, compliant and efficient manner to World Class standards.
  • Provide technical guidance, direction, leadership and co-ordination to the site team.
  • Promote trust and good working relationships within the site team and wider stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor individuals to support personal and team objectives.
  • Understand the commercial aspects of plant operation.
  • Identify plant improvements and implement using the Plant Modification Procedure.
  • Undertake all mandatory company training and ensure that all Compliance and Governance requirements are maintained at all times.
  • Ensure effective communications with all stakeholders.
  • Manage specific budgets for areas under your control.
  • Provide technical support to site out with normal working hours.
What we need from you
  • A relevant technical qualification (such as an HNC) or equivalent with proven practical experience.
  • A relevant safety qualification such as IOSH or equivalent.
  • A thorough understanding of HV and LV electrical systems, variable speed drives, DCS, transformers, generators and protection systems, industrial networks and automation components.
  • Experience of contract management, budgetary and procurement processes.
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience liaising effectively with contractors, suppliers and internal engineering or asset management teams.
  • Good understanding of planned and preventative maintenance strategies and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to colleagues, including coaching or mentoring where required.
It would be great if you had
  • NEBOSH Degree qualified with potential to achieve professional status (e.g. MIET).
  • Instrumentation skills and experience.
  • A thorough understanding of electrical legislation and regulations (e.g. BS7671, IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations).
  • CompEx Responsible Persons (Ex14).
