As a Principal Compliance Specialist, you will go beyond operational support to drive the development and execution of Boston Scientific's local compliance strategy. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, you will help navigate complex ethical decisions, represent Boston Scientific in key external associations, and play a pivotal role in advancing a culture of integrity across UK and Ireland and the broader EMEA region. This is a high-impact role requiring strong judgment, business acumen, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape ethical business practices, build trust, and ensure long-term sustainability in alignment with Boston Scientific's mission of Advancing Science for Life. This full-time permanent position is to be based from our office in Hemel Hempstead and offers weekly hybrid working (three days in the office, two days remote).
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Governance and strategy
- Represent Boston Scientific in local trade associations (e.g., ABHI) to ensure alignment with evolving industry codes and regulations.
- Chair the local compliance committee in the UK and Ireland and Nordics, driving effective governance and timely decisionâmaking.
- Lead the annual risk assessment process by partnering with the Country Leadership Team to identify and prioritise key compliance risks.
- Drive the strategy and execution of Annual Country Compliance Plans, aligning initiatives with risk assessments and compliance objectives.
- Track progress of key initiatives, report on compliance KPIs, and escalate material risks as appropriate.
- Culture and partnership development
- Partner closely with the Country Leadership Team in the UK and Ireland and Nordics to embed compliance into commercial and operational strategies.
- Act as a visible compliance ambassador and business partner, fostering a speakâup culture and ethical decisionâmaking.
- Design and deliver engaging compliance training and communication programs tailored to various levels of the organisation.
- Collaborate crossâfunctionally with Legal, Commercial Divisions, HR, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure proactive, solutionâoriented compliance.
- Represent the UK and Ireland and Nordics in regional and global compliance forums to share local insights and ensure alignment across business units.
- Operational support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for review and approval of HCP/HCO interactions in the UK and Ireland and Nordics.
- Ensure documentation, due diligence, and approvals are compliant with internal controls, SOPs, and MedTech/local codes.
- Provide expertâlevel advice on complex compliance scenarios, including highârisk and nonâstandard cases.
- Deliver timely, pragmatic guidance on both local and international compliance policies (e.g., MedTech Europe Code, AntiâGift Law).
- Monitor and drive continuous improvement of compliance systems, workflows, and internal controls.
- Lead and support junior compliance professionals (up to 3) and business partners to build internal compliance capabilities.
What We Are Looking For In You:
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in compliance, legal, or a related field, preferably within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or healthcare sector.
- Deep understanding of local and international healthcare compliance regulations, including MedTech Europe Code and AntiâGift Law.
- Proven ability to lead crossâfunctional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problemâsolving, and decisionâmaking skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English, any other language is a plus.
- Familiarity with compliance systems and tools used in multinational organisations is preferred.
- Previous experience supporting operational compliance activities or antiâbribery/antiâcorruption audit activities across EMEA is beneficial.
