Job Description
BAE Systems is undertaking a business-led, technology-enabled transformation programme, Ad Astra, to create a world-class finance function within the FTSE 100. As a PMO Project Professional, you will support the Head of PMO in shaping and maintaining effective project controls across the programme, ensuring consistent governance, high-quality reporting and well-coordinated planning throughout the project lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a complex, large-scale transformation, applying your experience in project controls to enable informed decision-making, manage risk and change, and support the successful delivery of programme outcomes.
Core Duties
- Lead the project reporting cycle, producing clear outputs and consolidating programme information to support decision-making
- Support the development and application of project control processes across the full project lifecycle
- Provide governance and assurance support, ensuring alignment with established project management standards
- Identify, assess and manage risks and issues, applying appropriate methodologies to support delivery
- Develop and maintain project plans, tracking progress and coordinating stakeholder engagement as required
- Support change management activities, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting throughout
- Provide day-to-day support to the project team, including coordination of business processes and administrative activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement by resolving challenges, supporting colleagues and capturing and sharing lessons learnt
Essential Skills
- Experience working within a project controls environment
- Good understanding of project management processes, governance and reporting
- Ability to analyse and present data clearly to support decision-making
- Experience of risk, issue and change management within a project setting
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and communication
The Project Management Team
You’ll be joining a collaborative and supportive PMO team at the heart of the Ad Astra programme, working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Digital and the wider business. The team plays a central role in driving effective governance, reporting and coordination across a major finance transformation.
