The Position Network Engineer Hybrid - Par Moor Technology Centre, Cornwall (with UK travel up to 30%) Salary up to £55,000 depending on experience + performance related bonus (up to 5%) Permanent, Full‑Time (37.5 hours per week)

About The Role Are you an experienced network professional looking for a role where you can make a real impact across a large, diverse UK operational network? This position offers the opportunity to support, develop and enhance the network infrastructure that underpins Imerys' UK sites and wider EMEA operations. As a Network Engineer, you will play a central role in maintaining stable, secure and high‑performing network services across our UK operations, while also contributing to global network improvement projects as part of the Global Network Operations Centre (GNOC). You will support day‑to‑day operations (Run activities), as well as contribute to Build activities such as network design improvements, equipment upgrades and the implementation of global standards. You will work closely with regional IT teams, helpdesk teams, site users and global GNOC colleagues, ensuring that our UK network remains robust, reliable and aligned with Imerys' global strategy. This position offers excellent opportunities for development, whether you want to progress into senior technical roles, architecture, project leadership or other areas within our global IT function.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Network Operations & Support (Run - approx. 80%)
  • Providing day‑to‑day support for network services across UK sites, ensuring high levels of performance, availability and security.
  • Managing incidents and changes through ServiceNow, with clear and timely updates.
  • Monitoring, analysing and troubleshooting complex issues across Cisco and Palo Alto environments.
  • Supporting site teams and helpdesk colleagues with connectivity and performance concerns.
  • Performing system backups, patching and general network maintenance.
  • Maintaining accurate asset inventories for network devices and components.
  • Responding to urgent or high‑priority incidents and supporting business continuity and disaster‑recovery activities.
  • Projects & Network Improvements (Build - approx. 20%)
    • Contributing to global and UK‑level network improvement and security projects.
    • Installing, configuring and maintaining Cisco and Palo Alto equipment (routers, switches, wireless, firewalls, SD‑WAN, VPN, etc.).
    • Helping refine and implement global networking policies, ensuring alignment with UK operations.
    • Preparing clear technical documentation for IT teams and users.
    • Supporting technology reviews and future network design improvements.

    Essential Experience and Skills

    • Degree or equivalent in Computing, IT or a related field.
    • Fluent in English.
    • At least 3 years' operational experience with Cisco and Palo Alto technologies.
    • Strong technical knowledge of IP networking, routing, Wi‑Fi, firewalls, VPN, SD‑WAN and associated protocols.
    • Hands‑on troubleshooting experience in complex network environments.
    • Experience working collaboratively within technical teams.
    • Ability and willingness to travel across UK sites (up to 30%).
    • Full UK driving licence.

    Desirable

    • Experience working in a multicultural or global organisation.
    • Ability to speak another European language.
    • Cisco or Palo Alto certifications.
    • Experience with cloud‑networking technologies or hybrid environments.
