Mott MacDonald Bentley provides design and build services in the UK water market, delivering feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services for water and wastewater treatment systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review designs for schemes, ensuring they are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
  • Work with Motor Control Centres, LV distribution systems, cabling, instrumentation, industrial networks, PLCs and SCADA.
  • Handle both new technology and legacy installations.
  • Produce and review technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, including supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
  • Apply and contribute to design standards, maintaining good knowledge of client and industry standards.
  • Appropriately challenge client specifications and present and defend solutions to complex problems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions and digital tools.
  • Act as a technical checker on project documents and undertake technical reviews for projects across teams.
  • Manage the interfaces and integration of the design with other disciplines and produce documentation.
  • Seek input from other engineers, specialists, clients and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Work closely with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions during design, construction and beyond.
  • Supervise and mentor graduates and engineers, supporting their development of knowledge and skills.
  • Engage positively with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to support them in achieving their aims.
  • Undertake site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within existing systems.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with water, wastewater, non-infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience delivering high-quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in delivering results within short timeframes, prioritising tasks and managing time efficiently.
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
