Joining Skyscanner means becoming part of a global brand that\’s striving to become the planet\’s go-to travel hack accessible for all. Our vision? To be the world\’s number one travel ally. (Ambitious? Yes, but, hey, that\’s what got us here.)
Now, we\’re on the lookout for a Director of Product Design to elevate our App experiences and lead the design of products that help more people discover, fall in love with, and return to Skyscanner.
About The Role
(Hybrid)
We\’re seeking an experienced design leader to head up our Audience design team , with responsibility across Awareness, Acquire, and Retain. In this role, you\’ll shape the design vision and drive world-class outcomes across one of our flagship product areas – including the end-to-end app journey.
You\’ll guide a high-performing team of 10+ designers (including 3-4 managers), align with cross-functional partners, and lead the delivery of elegant, impactful and user-first experiences that meet brand, business, and customer needs.
What You\’ll Be Doing
- Defining the vision: You\’ll articulate a compelling design strategy for your area and align it with company-wide objectives and design leadership goals.
- Creating a culture of innovation: You\’ll foster a design team that\’s both imaginative and pragmatic – balancing experimentation with continuous optimisation.
- Leading from the front: You\’ll mentor and grow a team of product designers and design managers, guiding them through complexity with clarity and intent.
- Partnering across disciplines: You\’ll work closely with product, engineering, marketing and research to ensure consistent and connected user journeys.
- Driving quality execution: You\’ll oversee the full design lifecycle – from ideation to delivery – ensuring excellence across every pixel and interaction.
- Championing users: You\’ll champion user-centric thinking, run Design Thinking workshops, partner with researchers, and apply test-and-learn strategies.
- Measuring what matters: You\’ll define metrics that connect design impact to business outcomes and iterate processes to scale success.
About You
- Experienced design leader: You have 15+ years in product design, with a proven track record leading diverse teams and delivering high-quality work at scale.
- Strategic operator: You\’ve led design orgs in both agency and client-side environments and know how to navigate complex, modern tech businesses.
- Mobile-first thinker: You bring deep expertise in designing for mobile apps and can guide your team through the nuances of app-led experiences.
- Proven people manager: You\’ve built and led teams across levels and disciplines, created growth paths, and cultivated strong team culture.
- Skilled communicator: You can translate design vision into business language, building influence and clarity across stakeholders.
- Craft-driven: You bring deep knowledge of UX, service design, systems thinking, and high-quality visual/UI execution – and lead others by example.
- Tools & tech fluent: You\’re comfortable in tools like Figma and Framer, understand how to work with research and data teams, and have familiarity with front-end tech.
